Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) – Making International Shipping Simple
At Xavier Britain, we want your order to arrive as smoothly and efficiently as possible – whether it’s a treat for yourself or a gift for someone special overseas.
To help with this, we’re happy to arrange Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) shipping on your behalf.
What is DDP?
DDP stands for Delivered Duty Paid. It means that all import duties, taxes, and customs fees are paid in advance, so the recipient doesn’t face unexpected costs or delays when the parcel arrives.
How it Works
Simply checkout as normal on our website. If we become aware that duties or tariffs are likely to apply to your order, we’ll get in touch before dispatch. We’ll provide you with the total amount to be prepaid, take payment securely, and handle all the arrangements with customs and couriers on your behalf.
Once complete, your order will be shipped as DDP – meaning there should be no additional charges when it reaches its destination.
As an example, DDP on a set of six Tottering mugs being shipped to the USA will be about £24 (or $32).
Why Let Xavier Britain Arrange DDP?
When we arrange DDP for you, it usually costs less than paying duties directly to the courier or customs service upon delivery. We have established relationships and negotiated rates that help keep these charges to a minimum.
It also saves you or your recipient the inconvenience of having to deal with customs paperwork, unexpected fees, or delayed deliveries.
Important Notes
While we do our best to identify and pre-pay duties wherever possible, we may not always be able to determine in advance whether customs charges will apply. On rare occasions, our couriers may not recognise that will be owed and may request payment on delivery.
In Summary
- We can arrange DDP for your order – for your own purchases or gifts sent abroad.
- Checkout as usual, and we’ll contact you if duties apply.
- We handle everything once pre-payment is arranged.
- It’s usually cheaper and much more convenient than paying duties yourself.
- Occasionally, duties may still be requested on delivery – but we’ll always do our best to assist.
If you have any questions about DDP or international shipping, please don’t hesitate to contact us before placing your order.
